Department of Industrial Safety Management
Department of Industrial Safety Management
Training Professional fire safety
Introduce
A safety-related major founded in 1991 in keeping with the trend of advanced fire prevention and safety industries, we receive many qualified students interested in the area and our alumni achieve high employment rates, many of them working in the fire department or at large corporations. We receive many applicants from local high schools and company employs and the major has become a popular one within our school thanks to the students' strong sense of purpose and academic commitment. To become the best department we are utilizing abundant practice areas for education focused on field experience and we also have preparation classes for firefighter and technical licenses.Educational Objectives
The Department is committed to fostering safety professionals equipped with the specialized knowledge and skills necessary for accident prevention and the preservation of worker health. Our educational objectives are as follows:
- Comprehensive Understanding of Safety and Health: Mastery of industrial safety and health concepts, theories, and principles to foster a deep comprehension of these domains and their practical applications.
- Risk Assessment and Management: Proficiency in identifying, x-evaluating, and mitigating risk factors in industrial environments, emphasizing proactive hazard anticipation and prevention strategies.
- Comprehension of Safety Policies and Regulations: Thorough understanding and application of governmental policies and regulations pertaining to industrial safety and health, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and the establishment of effective safety protocols.
- Accident Prevention and Investigation: Acquisition of methodologies for preemptive accident ax-voidance and rigorous training in effective accident investigation techniques to identify root causes and develop preventative measures.
- Practical Experience and Field Training: Hands-on application of theoretical knowledge through immersive field training, collaborative projects, simulations, and real-world problem-solving exercises, enhancing practical proficiency and adaptability in industrial settings.
Educational Direction
To prevent occupational accidents and occupational diseases, the department aims to cultivate specialized competencies in safety practices by comprehensively understanding relevant regulations and delineating occupational domains such as machinery safety, electrical safety, construction safety, and chemical safety. The career trajectories in industrial safety management encompass:
- Safety Administrator [Related Qualifications: Industrial Safety Engineer, Construction Safety Engineer]
Safety administrators engage in the engineering-based study of accident prevention and hazard mitigation strategies for workers deployed in industrial environments. They undergo specialized training and acquire industry-recognized certifications to excel in safety and disaster management roles, including accident analysis, hazard inspection, safety equipment provision, and enhancement of working conditions. - Health Manager [Related Qualification: Industrial Hygiene Manager]
Health managers focus on preventing occupational diseases stemming from unsafe work practices and environments. Through engineering analyses, they develop and implement strategies to maintain and enhance worker health, including the identification and mitigation of various environmental hazards within the workplace. - Fire Safety Administrator [Related Qualification: Fire Safety Equipment Engineer - Mechanical, Electrical]
Engaged in various facets of fire facility construction, fire safety administrators oversee tasks such as design, inspection, construction, and performance-based design to ensure optimal fire response capabilities and evacuation safety during emergencies. - Hazardous Material Safety Administrator [Related Qualification: Hazardous Material Engineer]
Given the stringent regulations governing chemical substances and the escalating incidents in chemical plant operations, the role and significance of hazardous material safety administrators have been underscored. Through theoretical learning and credential acquisition, they bolster their proficiency in addressing diverse risk factors associated with the production, handling, and transportation of hazardous materials, thereby contributing to industrial safety.
Distinctive Characteristics of the Department
Since its inception in 1991, the department has established itself as a pioneering institution specializing in the fields of safety and fire. In 2023, it will be newly established as the "Department of Industrial Safety Management," designated as a specialized area within the HiVE (Higher Vocational Education hub district) initiative of Yangsan City. We are committed to cultivating experts in the burgeoning field of safety, contributing to the institutionalization of a safety culture within local industries.
- Creation of laboratory environments tailored to foster practical competencies required in industrial safety and health management.
- Development of professionals in safety, health, hazardous materials, and fire prevention to meet the evolving demands of industrial sectors.
- Collaboration with local communities and industries to enhance awareness of safety culture.
- Provision of specialized safety training sessions and lifelong education initiatives for local residents and professionals.
